Did you imagine the water winding down?
as you unearthed me from your touch
did you—
Did you ever stop to breath in the air
to inhale the intoxicant lotus of the hour
when dream-time seeps into reason?
I sought you out like a key;
You buried me under the moon in Cupidon
and aimed an arrow right into the sun
This land is ancient and murmuring
a prayer, a plea,
damp under so much heat;
like lighting you struck the tree
and set the spirits wandering
When you called to me
I counted it as a blessing,
and took my yearning to the shore
to see if I could find
the purpose to the never-ending turn
We took a vow of silence
yet in verse we hide our purpose,
and You found an ancient desire
hidden under the tumbled altar
I could document forever
the pleasures of your virtue
in the cave the nymph found better
than the labyrinth laid before
The Sun is living in its design
with no end in sight,
rising and rising higher
as the satyr pants in the ether
I didn’t understand, but I do now
when I go into the darkness
to seek a hidden light
and I search always in your eyes
for a glimpse into eternity.
And when you committed
to unearthing the old world
You breathed new life,
Stirring the very depths of heaven
Undoing time, ever-binding.
As Dawn Breaks Over
by Juliette Sandoval
Nothing can last for ever;
Though the sun shines gold
It must plunge into the sea.
The moon has also disappeared
which but now so brightly gleamed.
